"From the Other Side of the Glass, the Photography of Eddie Kramer"

Jimi Hendrix at The Record Plant, NYC, 1968, recording “Electric Ladyland” “The Smoking Panel"

Even though Jimi smoked grass he was never too stoned to work diligently and with tremendous focus on the task at hand. This series of photos shows Jimi very relaxed and utilizing a unique system for smoking a joint and a cigarette at the same time. Even smoking was a “stereophonic” experience. –EK

Led Zeppelin at Stargroves, "Dancing Days", 1972

The band dancing to the song “Dancing Days” The truck doors are open, we’re playing back what was just recorded. So, the lads decided to get into it and dance around to this great track. –EK

Jimi Hendrix Hanging Out With The Rolling Stones, Madison Square Garden, NYC, 1969

On the occasion of Jimi’s birthday he visited the Stones at their MSG concert. He kindly asked me to tag along. That’s Ian Stewart on the right. Remember the Zep tune “Boogie With Stu”? –EK

What Year Are We In?

So I was just doing a quick review of the 2009 Fall Couture Chanel Collection and I was inundated with flashbacks of glitter, sequins, tutu's an tulle from the 80's and 90's with a 40's flash of fur edged coats.

WOAH it was like a blur of iconic images of Past-Fashion!

Below are some pieces that will bring you right back into time :)

Take Dinner Outdoors!

Did you know it stays light until almost after 8pm these day!? Switch up your routine and pick up some dinner to go or gather a super simple meal from home and head down and enjoy where we live! My family and I tend to do this all the time, and it is such a fun evening.

In my opinion, there are two way to do this:

1. Go to your local Gourmet Deli or Grocery (I like Seaside Market in Cardiff) and grab a bunch of easy finger foods, sammy's or pre-made salads- their plastic utensils and a drink or two. Be sure to grab your beach chair or towel and you're done! It's your turn to cook? This is a fantastic idea - the view and the creativeness is sure to give you a "Get Out of Jail Free" card for not cooking.

Things to watch out for:
1. Most beaches do not allow glass or alcohol. We have found a paper coffee cup works wonders in both of those department.
2. Bring a Sweater - once the sun goes down you start to feel that moisture!

3. CLEAN UP! Be sure to th
row away your trash and keep our beaches clean.

2. Bring Food from home! And if you are adventurous, BBQ on the beach! A lot of local beaches will have permanent BBQ available it you don't want to lug yours down. Also, quite a few already have picnic benches for you!

TIPS:
1. Bring sturdy foods that are great served chilled. Packageable and Portable!

Cold Pasta's, Hearty Salads

2. Dips!

Guacamole and tortilla chips, salsa, Hummus and Pita or Veggies.

3. Lemonade

Nothing is more refreshing than some sweet lemonade at the beach, unless you are over 21 and a bruski sounds better - then refer to "Things to Watch Out For #1.

Daddy's Girl - Happy Fathers Day!

Daddy's Girl
-Christine McNamara

When you were young, pony-tailed,
face full of playful freckles,
were you a daddy's girl?
I was. I still am.
Did you look to him for your security,
for love and attention,
for the understanding, and the patience you lacked
as a child?
My daddy was the center of my small world,
the focus of my affections,
the star that lit my life, shining bright.
Shining still in my heart.
The years have led me here,
weathered with maturity and responsibilities,
and I see more clearly now.
The hardships, burdens of love,
and all the small sacrifices he made for me,
for our family.
He created stability, a place to call home.
All the photographs I browse through
of a child long forgotten, scarcely remembered
smiling, so happy and so loved.
The mere thought of becoming that role model
is enough to send me cowering, afraid...
looking for guidance.
Turning to my father and my more for support,
advice, wise counsel, and for approval.
Grown up, I see differently now...
A new perspective of a man I have always known.
My heart is full, my emotions overpowering
just in the certainty of that bond.
He's been there for me through all the conflicts
helping me over the rough, ragged stones
of growing up.
My respect for him is unending,
faith is unbound, and love is unquestioning.
Even in the midst of all my imperfections, he is lenient,
ignoring the pitfalls, the downfalls, the shortcomings,
he just accepted me as I was, as I am.
The sheer purity of it leaves me awe-struck
and it lifts me up, it holds my head a little higher,
it keeps me in balance,
harmonizing with the world around me
beautifully, like an inspired masterpiece from the soul
of an honest man.
I am honored to know him, to love him, to be of him.
He's my hero, and I am his daughter, his little girl.

Thought this had a wonderful sentiment!

Happy Father's Day to all the Dad's out there and for all that you do!

Summer Nights

Cedros Art Walk is a super fun event held usually monthly in the early evening in Solana Beach in the design district on Cedros Ave. Each "Summer Night" tends to be slightly different, but most of the galleries are open late for passerbyers. The draw, simply put is Mr. Wade Koniakowsky and his gallery Ocean Art. He has a beachy/island style that is sure to fit any Southern California home. Even if you are not in the mood to buy, his work is very inspiring. You will be able to check out some of his work and his new gallery location @ 346 S. Cedros Ave.
Another fun touch is that you can bring a t-shirt from home and get a free block print from the artist - I may even bring a tote-bag or a baby onesie...rebel I know. This is a fun night out with art, music and refreshments! yummy

Grey Ant ...Where Art thou?

I am obsessed with these Grey Ant glam-rock shades and they are no where to be found :(
My love started when I saw Miss Lohan in Harper's Bazaar wearing them.
My love went so far, I was even inspired to do a painting of it! The kicker is that now, I cannot find them anywhere...
(painting still in progress but you get the point!~)
